Hansen's Garden District Band

The Garden District Band (Trio to Hot-Groove Nine) performs original compositions (instrumental and with lyrics) along with selections from the Great American songbook, classic standards, very old New Orleans traditional jazz, big band hits, bebop, Latin/Jazz to funky New Orleans street beat or second line songs in a very creative and highly improvised setting. The band performs instrumental and with vocals. Band members include (and have included) professional musicians from varying ethnic and origin backgrounds including African American, American, Brazilian, British, Canadian, Italian, Japanese, Mexican and South American citizens and include or have included male and female performers. Renato Podestà

Born: August 7, 1980

Born in Piacenza on August 7 1980, Renato Podestà started playing piano at age 8 and took up guitar at 12 years old, enamored by the first blues records he heard.

He has performed, live and in the recording studio, with Umberto Petrin, Hetty Kate, Tricia Boutté, Kay Foster Jackson, Shanna Waterstown, Mattia Cigalini, Alfredo Ferrario, Massimo Greco, Sandro Gibellini, Beppe Di Benedetto, Gianluca Di Ienno, Marco Micheli, Michael Supnick and Stefania Rava, and with pop artists Renzo Arbore and Nina Zilli.

In 2008 he cofounded the progressive swing band Sugarpie and the Candymen, where he has been working as a guitar player, arranger and vocalist. The band has recorded five albums so far, all for Italian indie label Irma Records, and has performed in jazz clubs e festivals around Europe, such as Umbria Jazz, Jazz Ascona, Madrid Jazz Festival, Offtown Festival (Istanbul), La Meridien Etoile (Paris) and many others, as well as several radio and TV shows in Italy, Switzerland and Poland.

Anthony Jefferson

Anthony Jefferson is a person who cares about music, people, and animals. He wants to make a difference in the world and live life to the fullest. The New Orleans native, began singing in his childhood, in an environment rich in: Jazz, Blues and Contemporary R&B, refining it later by studying classical repertoire at the California Institute of the Arts, with Paul Vorwek and continuing at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Prior to forming his own band, Anthony shared the stage with artists such as Mark Rapp, Wille Jones 3rd, Mark Shelby, Bobby Wilson and Brent Rose, just to name a few. The velvety smooth voiced vocalist´s journey through jazz is one of passion, love, attempting to unite different cultures, and bringing harmony to the world through his music.

Ed Barrett is a critically acclaimed jazz guitarist and music educator living and working in New Orleans, Louisiana.Ed brings a thorough, deep understanding of and appreciation for all the past and present masters to the foundation of his jazz guitar concept. Ed’s music is a current, thoughtful, expressive continuation of the great jazz guitar tradition, bearing witness to the influences of Ed Bickert, Pat Martino, Grant Green and George Benson. Jamie Brownfield

Born: February 26, 1992

Jamie Brownfield, 23, hails from the village of Llanrhaeadr Y.M. in Mid Wales. He started on the cornet aged 9 playing in the local brass band and by the time he was 12 was performing jazz in public, guesting wherever he could at local jazz clubs. In 2005, when Jamie was 13, he formed his first band 'The JB Quintet' and the following year recorded his first CD 'No Animals Were Harmed......' Jamie has been playing professionally now for many years and is available for any event or session work, playing all styles of jazz from New Orleans to Bebop! Jamie was awarded 1st place in the 'Rising Star' category of the 2012 British Jazz Awards Recordings No Animals Were Harmed.....
