Istanbul-based drummer and composer Erkan Sönmez started playing drums in his childhood. He successfully graduaded from the percussion (drums) department of Modern Music Academy and completed the 'CRR Jazz Composition Academy' program. For many years, he shared the stage with master artists and groups of classical, pop and jazz genres such as Enbe Orchestra, Levent Yüksel, Serdar Öztop, Erdem Sökmen, Güç Başar Gülle. Between 2015 and 2020, he played drums and percussion in Erdem Sökmen Quartet and Quintet projects. While he continues to actively play with Cem Çatık Trio; He released his first album, which he calls 'Habitat', consisting entirely of his own compositions and arrangements, in 2024.

I have been a professional entertainer since 1965. I have played with recording artists, appeared on TV and radio, and have had articles published in newspapers and magazines. I have taught guitar for the San Diego Community College District (since 1988) as well as several music studios, and I and have a music degree from Mount Aloysius College with concentration on Music Ed and guitar performance. I am available as a music producer. I have a good ear for what sounds good and what sounds bad, and I will work with you or your band to record a dynamic CD that captivates rather than falls short
