Alain Bédard

Alain Bédard began his professional career in the 1980s, when he integrates naturaly some various Quebec formations of the time. His participation in various major events around the world, today it provides a fascinating experience. With a passage in the Word Beat with DADJE (Senegal-Quebec group), dancing alongside Martinique dancer Josianne Antourel, the classic with Marc Denis at the University of Quebec in Montreal and violinist Martin Foster (member of the UQAM Chamber Music Orchestra) and jazz with a variety of groups in Quebec and international artists including; Jazzlab Orchestra, André Leroux, François Bourassa, Frank Lozano, Pierre Tanguay, Michel Côté, Donny McCaslin, Stéphane Belmondo, Julien Loureau, Ted Nash, Pascal Shumacher, etc Alain Bédard continues an interesting career with his own jazz quartet AUGUSTE training, he walks for almost 20 years on all continents. After giving hundreds of concerts and edited 5 albums whose CD “Auguste” (1997), “Sphere Reflection” (2006), “Bluesy Lunedi” (2008) nominated for an ADISQ and JUNO Award for Best Album of 2010 “Homos Pugnax” (2011) and “Circum Continuum” (2016)

JazzLab Orchestra

The Jazzlab Orchestra, based in Montreal, defines itself as a specific group, a true institution in the world of Canadian jazz since 2004. The group explores musical writing in many styles, each time supported by stunning composers and musicians. Always keen on originality, always attached to gravitating a core of astonishing artists, it elaborates with inspiration and audacity each project since its creation. Practically the only group of its kind in Canada, he has released 7 albums and given more of 300 concerts since his creation, performing on the best stages of major jazz festivals and several prestigious venues in North America and Europe, including: The Jazz at the Lincoln Center (NY), the New Morning, the Café de la Danse (Paris), the Casa del Jazz (Rome), the Grande Teatro (Sicily), the Jazz Station (Brussels) and the Budapest Music Center (Budapest), etc.

Usually made up of 8 leaders of Quebec jazz, this "Large Format " ensemble gave also 39 special concerts with many international artists like: Ted Nash, Seamus Blake (sax), Stephane Belmondo (trp), Chinese singer Zhao Ke, Don Thompson (vib), Mark Feldman (vl) and Donny MacCaslin (sax) which were greatly received by many audiences and professionals

CODE Quartet

CODE Quartet is a collective quartet based out of Montreal. Formed four years ago by Christine Jensen on saxophones, Lex French on trumpet, Adrian Vedady on acoustic bass, and Jim Doxas on drums, the group came together with the equal goals of composing and improvising in a chordless-quartet setting. The primary motivation for the formation of the group has been to build on the freedom of expression pioneered by Ornette Coleman’s seminal group of the 1950s, with two horns interacting with acoustic bass and drums. Hugo Blouin

Born: August 10, 1983

Montreal bassist and composer Hugo Blouin writes songs using the musicality of the spoken word. He published three albums, including Sport national (2023), a set playful, historical and quite physical hockey jazz songs that reflect on the role of this sport in Canadian culture, for better or for worse. His previous two albums of Charbonneau ou les valeurs à' bonne place (Volume 1 in 2018 and Volume 2 2022) rendered a tongue-in-cheek homage to a Quebec inquiry commission on organized crime, political funding and the construction industry. They received notable praise and attention, both at home and abroad.

A generous and engaging artist, a veritable powerhouse in Quebec and Canada’s instrumental music scene, Marianne Trudel has presented multiple artistic projects that not only bring her considerable skills to the fore but also her keen sense of creativity. At once energetic and passionate, her music cross-cuts a wide swath of musical interests. Her moving, spellbinding music is not easily labelled, one of its many strengths. As a performer, she pursues an active career in a variety of settings ranging from solo performance to: duets (MTrudel+ John Hollenbeck, MTrudel + Karen Young), trios (Trifolia), quintet (Marianne Trudel 4 + Ingrid Jensen), septet, and large ensembles. She has presented her music in various countries: Canada, United States, Mexico, France, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, England, Scotland, Italy, Hungary, Lituania, and China.
