He has been playing the violin for 30 years and in that time has played all genres of music ranging from contemporary music to free jazz and improvised music, live and in the studio. His main interest shifted towards contemporary improvised and composed music. The relationship with his instruments is focused in sonic and textural elements. Electronic music was an early influence on his approach to violin playing, which challenges traditional romantic concepts of the violin/viola through use of preparations and micro tuning. Active in different settings on the Portuguese scene for free improvised music, both as a collaborator and in leading his own groups. Music for Dance, Cinema, Video and Performance. Has created the record label Creative Sources Recordings in 1999, which mainly concentrates on releasing experimental and electro-acoustic music.

Nuno Costa

Born in 1980, the Portuguese guitarist Nuno Costa started playing at the age of 15. In 1998, began his classical music studies at Academia de Amadores de Música. A year later, went to the Hot Clube de Portugal jazz school and in 2002 received an achievement scholarship. He then moved to Boston with a new scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music and in 2005 graduated with Magna Cum Laude in Film Scoring. In 2021 he finished his PhD at Faculdade de Belas-Artes of Universidade de Lisboa (Summa Cum Laude).

His first album “(...) - Reticências entre Parênteses” was released in 2009 for the Portuguese indie label Tone of Pitch. The record had a good reception by the critics, with positive reviews and was featured both in the national and international press. In 2012 released his second album “All Must Go” for the same label. “Packed with solid and imaginative writing, played by a group of amazing improvisers, All Must Go is a dazzling musical experience that should not be missed by anyone interested in modern jazz”. "Detox" was released in 2015. Mário Laginha wrote about it: "It is enjoyable to listen to and it is never predictable. I don’t feel one can ask more from a record". "À Deriva" (2017) it's his 4th album as a leader and the first of Saga Cega, with whom he drove apart from jazz for the first time in his career. Saga Cega gathers a cast of notorious musicians from the Portuguese scene. His trio NoA has been around since 2012 and kept playing an active role in the Portuguese jazz scene. "Evidentualmente" (2020) was recorded by this trio and it's also available in vinyl. The album was one of the nominees for best jazz album at the Prémios Play awards. Cenas de Uma Vida no Bosque was released in 2021. It was recorded with a septet and it's also part of his PhD thesis. "Concavexo" (2022) it's NoA's second album and it features the amazing Rão Kyao.

João Barradas is one of the most recognized young accordionists in Europe. At age 22 is the winner, in various categories, of the most important competitions in the world like Trophée Mondiale Accordeon, Coupe Mondiale Accordeon, "Citta Di Castelfidardo" Competition and many other prizes.

His long span project Lisbon Improvisation Players and other groups he formed with, for instance, Ken Filiano, Steve Adams, Dennis Gonzalez, Carlos Zíngaro, Kent Kessler, Paal Nilssen-Love, Miguel Mira or Gabriel Ferrandini, all share the same method of opening the concept of real-time composition to as many perspectives as possible. With one foot in modern jazz and the other in free improvisation, what he likes most is to play in the jazz idiom, without any tunes or preconceived structures, but forging a work of strong structure, clear direction and deep meaning, in real-time

Paulo Raposo

After studies of philosophy and cinema in Lisbon, he has been working in the medium of live electronic and computer sound, performing, recording and exhibiting works in France, Germany, UK, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Baltic States and United States. His work explores the inter-relationships and displacements between digital process and architectural spaces, using computer and custom-built software to create abstract and delicate sound works. Since the late nineties, he started also exploring intersections between sound and image taking advantage of the digital medium real-time possibilities, both in solo performances and collaborative work. Raposo performed and colaborated with numerous artists, including Janek Schaefer, Jason Kahn, Stephan Mathieu, Kaffe Mathews, Marc Behrens, John Grzinich, Zbigniew Karkowski, Matt Rogalski, Carlos Santos, Carlos Z�-ngaro, Christopher Murphy, Koji Asano, Sara Kolster, among others. He founded Sirr in 2001, a label dedicated to promote challenging sound art from an array of international artists and 30 cds were released so far

Born in 1965, he started music lessons at the age of 4 in Centro de Estudos Gregorianos.

He studied music theory with Maria José Godinho and after moved to Academia de Amadores de Música where he continued his studies in music theory with Cristina Brito da Cruz, started to study double bass and chamber music with Fernando Flores and composition with Pedro Rocha.

In 1986-87 attended double-bass courses given by Ludwig Streicher in Estoril and in 1988 won 1st prize in the Prémio Jovens Músicos (Young Musicians Competition); later became a member of Orquestra Sinfónica Juvenil where he worked on classical repertory with conductor Christopher Bochmann.

André Fernandes

André Fernandes was born in Lisbon in 1976. He finished his studies at the HotCLub of Portugal Jazz School where he nowadays teaches Guitar, Analysis, and Ensemble. Also teaches at the Madeira Conservatory. In 1996 was awarded a scholarship from Berklee College of Music that he attended for two years, until he moved to New York City. During his time in the USA he studied with Hal Crook , John Abercrombie, Jerry Bergonzi, Mick Goodrick, Kenny Werner, among others. He was awarded the Stephen Holland Award for Outstanding Musicianship. Amongst his collaborations are musicians like Lee Konitz, Mário Laginha, Chris Cheek, Cyro Baptista, Ohad Talmor, Bill McHenry, Jochen Rueckert, Perico Sambeat, Julian Arguelles, David Binney, AviShai Cohen, Eli Degibri, Pedro Moreira, Alexi Tuomarila, Bernardo Moreira, Jorge Reis, Carlos Barretto, Akiko Pavolka, Jarmo Savolainen, Furio diCastri, Phil Markowitz and João Paulo Esteves da Silva. Carlos Zingaro

Born 1948 in Lisbon, Portugal; violin, electronics. Carlos Zingaro undertook classical music studies at the Lisbon Music Conservatory from 1953 to 1965, and during the two years 1967/68 he studied church organ at the High School of Sacred Music. Also, during the 1960s, Zingaro was a member of the Lisbon University Chamber Orchestra. In 1967 he formed Plexus, the only Portuguese group at the time to have developed a new musical approach based on contemporary music, improvisation and rock; the group recorded a 45rpm single for RCA-Victor in 1968. From 1975 onwards Carlos Zingaro has performed with a wide variety of improvising musicians, including: Barre Phillips, Daunik Lazro, Derek Bailey, Joëlle Léandre, Jon Rose, Kent Carter, Ned Rothenberg, Peter Kowald, Roger Turner, Rüdiger Carl, Dominique Regef, Evan Parker, Günter Müller, Andres Bosshard, Jean-marc Montera, and Paul Lovens
