Born and bred in Brooklyn, N.Y., Renee Manning stands out from the crowd. Her robust voice, rich tones and impeccable time make her truly a musicians vocalist. Her debut in the jazz world as the singer with the Mel Lewis Orchestra (from 1983-1989) was the longest tenure of any vocalist associated with that organization . By chance, Mr. Lewis heard Renée performing at Mikells . He invited her to sit in with his band at the Village Vanguard and after a standing ovation hired her as his vocalist on the spot. Karl Sterling

Born in Ithaca, New York Karl has spent the majority of his life in the Syracuse, NY area. Having grown up in a musical household, it was a natural thing for Karl to take to music and drums, in particular. Both of Karl's parents attended the Ithaca College School of Music. Karl's father Bob Sterling, was a drummer, composer/arranger, and leader of several successful bands in the Central New York area for many years. His mother, Helen majored in vocal studies at Ithaca College and is also a talented pianist. Karl now works as a nuerorehabilitation specialist, educator, and advocate for people with Parkinson's disease. In 2018, karl founded the the Parkinson’s Global Project ® - a 501c3 nonprofit corporation registered in the state of New York and is dedicated to funding Parkinson’s research and supporting Parkinson’s associations around the world

Lee Engele
Lee has been gaining more and more acclaim as a talented and hard-working vocalist in the region. Her recent gigs have included The Dakota, The Twin Cities Jazz Festival, and Hopkins Center for the Arts, as well as many of the local jazz venues. Lee was a participant in the 2008 edition of the prestigious Yale Cabaret Conference, and appeared at the Bloomington Center for the Arts in December 2009 with Debbie Duncan and Bruce Henry in a salute to the 60th anniversary of Birdland. Sharmila G. Lash
Vocalist Sharmila G. Lash has appeared as a performer and educator in both jazz and classical settings, and both as a soloist and ensemble member. She is a private voice instructor, a session singer, and a voice over artist. She is a current member of the Los Angeles Master Chorale and has performed with many of the top jazz musicians in California. Sharmila is a member of AGMA, SAG-AFTRA, and ASCAP.

Josh Bennier

Josh Bennier (born Adelaide, 1995) is an improvising trombonist and composer. After completing a Diploma of Music at the Elder Conservatorium at the University of Adelaide in 2013, he moved to Melbourne to study at the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music at Monash University. Studying under Paul Williamson, Jordan Murray, James Macaulay and Robert Burke has been an invaluable experience for him. Josh was awarded the Marjorie Garner Orchestral Scholarship for Trombone in 2013 and has since been nominated for the Sir Zelman Cowen Vice- Chancellor's scholarship twice. Josh won the Monash Jazz Composition Prize in 2017 and was a semi-finalist in the 2017 National Jazz Awards at Wangaratta Jazz Festival

His original compositions have also earned him awards such as the John Lennon songwriting contest, and the USA Songwriting competition. He had received scholarships from the AICF, The municipality of Jerusalem and the Israeli Ministry of Culture. He is also the Recipient of the ACUM Scholarships for emerging artists (Israeli Agency for Composers and Musicians). Mandy Lagan
Mandy Lagan was born in England and raised in Ridgetown, a small town in southwestern Ontario. She studied piano and sang in various choirs under the tutelage of her mother who was a piano teacher, organist and choir director. She eventually picked up a guitar and learned some chords so she could accompany herself singing songs she knew, as well as work on her own writing. After graduating from Mohawk College Music Department Mandy went to McMaster University and got her B.A. in music. She began taking herself seriously as a singer in 1990 when she moved out of Hamilton and into Toronto and formed a band in order to work on some of her favourite music as well as develop her own compositions. In 2002 she released her first CD, "I Thought About You", a collection of jazz standards and two originals
