Ruud de Vries

Born: April 20, 1961

Ruud de Vries is a jazz tenor saxophonist from the Netherlands, playing and recording many musical styles, though always recordings based on improvisation. When you look up his recordings on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Amazon, or all other online music portals, you'll find traditional jazz, ballads, funk jazz, souljazz, latin jazz, afrobeat, calypso jazz, rhythm & blues, rock 'n roll, pop and 'DJ' dance music with sax improvisation. He bought his first saxophone when he was already 27 years old, after attending a performance of tenor saxophonist Hans Dulfer (the father of Candy Dulfer). He then knew he wanted to play the saxophone too. Not knowing anything about jazz and improvisation at that time didn't keep him from starting an instrumental band and perform right away. Ten years later he became a fulltime professional sax player after quitting his regular job.

Toggi Jonsson

Born: May 29, 1976

Þorgrímur “Toggi” Jónsson, bassplayer has been a major part of the Icelandic jazz seen for the last 20 years. Has played with with some of the best-known musicians in Iceland an also some of the many foreign musicians that have visited Iceland in recent years.

2016 Toggi released his own CD including 10 original compositions performed by his own band including some of the finest musicians in Iceland. His music is under influences from the Balkans, pop music as well as European jazz. Thoughtful and melodic compositions are at the forfront showcasing the strenghts of his quintet.

Itamar Shapiro

Born: October, 1995

Itamar Shapiro is a New York based drummer and percussionist.

Born in Israel in 1995 Itamar started playing music when he was 6 years old studying different percussion instruments. When he was 12, he started playing the drum set which became his primary instrument. In high school he attended the music program at Blich high school in Ramat Gan. After graduating high school Itamar studied for three years at the CJS academic program in the Israeli conservatory of Tel Aviv. In 2017 Itamar moved to New York to complete his degree at the New School for jazz and contemporary music’s performance program and graduated with honors in 2019.

Beloveds

Beloveds is a cabaret, a burial ground, a circus, a lullaby.

Beloveds is an ensemble that started in 2016 In Gothenburg, Sweden. Composer and singer Channa Riedel uses poetry in order to create music that is intimate, rugged and beautiful. They find inspiration from music such as Liberation Music Orchestra, Victor Jara, Hanns Eisler as well as Swedish and Jewish folk songs. Lyrics are by Palestinian, Swedish, American and Russian poets such as Vladimir Mayakovsky, Juliana Spahr, Stig Dagerman and Channa Riedel. 

In October 2019 debut album "Så tar natten dig åter" was released on Swedish indie label Abrovinsch Records. The music is a bittersweet mixture of jazz, folksongs, cabaret and progg (Swedish left-wing and anti-commercial musical movement from the 60s and 70s).

Channa Riedel

Born: October 15, 1990

Channa Riedel is a writer, poet and musician. She recently graduated from the Academy of Music and Drama, University of Gothenburg and the debut album of her band Beloveds was released in 2019. This year she will begin a master’s in Literary Composition at HDK-Valand Academy of Art and Design, and is currently working on her first collection of poems. Sun is a New York based professional alto saxophonist, musician, composer, educator and band leader from Seoul, Korea. His soulful dark sound springs from his influence on such giants in jazz; John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Kenny Garrett, and more. Thought out the years Sun has explored and absorbed the traditional language of modern jazz, and developed a unique style of improvising and composing. By searching the most natural and honest way for himself to feel and speak music through his instrument, Sun has found a way of combing the musical soul of his mother land with the traditional jazz

Angela Turone & Chris Platt

Angela Turone and Chris Platt are Canadian musicians that have been collaborating since 2014. Angela and Chris met in their hometown, Toronto, while completing their studies in the jazz performance program at the University of Toronto. There, they discovered a common love and appreciation for Brazilian music and came together as an ensemble. With Angela on vocals and piano and Chris on guitar, they seek to explore the diverse and beautiful music of Brazil, performing their creative interpretations of repertoire from the bossa nova, samba and jazz genres. Their 2020, FACTOR-funded album Sounds of Brazil is a reflection of Angela and Chris’ deep interest in Brazilian music and how it intertwines with their jazz roots

Vince Eury

Born: July 12, 1965

Jazz vocalist Vincent Eury was once dubbed by Clay Osborne (a legendary jazz artist and brother of R&B great Jeffrey Osborne) as “the voice we’ve been longing for.” This proud Salisbury, North Carolina native grew up singing in several local churches and as a soloist. Additionally, he became the premier wedding singer. Vincent has been and still is the most sought after vocalist of his hometown area. Upon enlisting in the United States Armed Forces, Vincent was lead vocalist for the prestigious Navy Band of Newport Rhode Island from 1993 to 1999. Although his reporting station was in Rhode Island, Vincent was showcased on band tours that included big band, swing band, jazz band and rock band
