Mike Armando

Jazz/blues guitarist Mike Armando was born and grew up in Brooklyn & Woodhaven Queens, NY. He Attended Franklin K. Lane High School. In the early years Mike joined the U.S. Navy during the Viet Nam War. He served his country for 4 years and still performed when he had time. Times were tough but he still kept playing his music. He was the guitarist for the late Screamin' Jay Hawkins for three years.
In February 1976 Screamin' Jay Hawkins suffered facial injuries when he was burned by one of his flaming props while performing with his guitarist Mike Armando at the Virginia Theater in Alexandria, Va. Mike Armando's years of being the guitarist for Screamin' Jay Hawkins during the 1970's has been written about in a book written by author Steve Bergsman titled "I Put A Spell On You: The Bizarre Life of Screamin' Jay Hawkins" The book is published by Feral House. Mike shared the stage with major musical acts such as 5 Satins, Critters, Marveletts, Bobby Lewis, Velon’s, Scott Mckenzie and many more.

Steve Bloom

Steve Bloom started out learning American Folk and Popular Songs from the 50’s, 60’s and early 70’s. He then began studying Classical Guitar. In 1981 he studied with Jazz teacher, Bruce Bednarsky. Steve went to Tulane University in New Orleans from ‘82-’84, where he studied Classical Harmony, Theory, and played in the school Big Band. New Orleans greatly influenced his perspective and feel in playing music and what it means to have an enthusiastic audience.
In ’84 Steve transferred to the Jazz program at Long Island University in Brooklyn. There he studied with a number of great musician/educators including Bill Saxton, Benny Powell, Ronnie Matthews, Cecil Bridgewater, etc., and Reggie Workman, who was to become a great mentor.

Daniel Volovets

Daniel Volovets, 17, has been studying classical, Brazilian, and flamenco guitar for almost 10 years. His love affair with music began at the age of 7, when he began studying with classical guitarist Anatoly Shapiro. He has also studied with Tony Hauser, concentrating heavily on Brazilian and flamenco music, and with James Flegel at the University of Minnesota. Daniel has performed extensively throughout the Twin Cities and has recorded three albums: Melodias Brasileiras, Watercolors of the World, and Silhouette.
