Under The Lake

"Effervescent, vivacious and all-together engaging" is how smoothjazz.com describes Under The Lake's music, an original sound that Don Dilorio of the North Jersey Herald and News says "doesn't sit easy in any category, thanks to its heavy doses of funkified bass and occasional soul references." Keyboard player Jayson Tipp founded Under The Lake nearly 30 years ago. Over the past three decades Under The Lake has garnered many notable accomplishments across their first 4 releases: Dive In (1993), Up For Air (1996), People Together (2007) and Jazz, Groove & Attitude (2018). The band’s credits include live performances with a "who's who" list of jazz artists such as Joe Sample, Billy Cobham, Keiko Matsui, Stanley Jordan, and others with appearances at venues such as the PDX Jazz Festival, Cathedral Park Jazz Festival, Maui Music Festival, Newport Beach Jazz Festival, KIFM Smooth Jazz Festival and the House of Blues. Yuko Mabuchi

In the world of music, there are artists who follow trends and those who create them. Yuko Mabuchi firmly belongs in the latter category. Hailing from Japan, she is currently taking the global music scene by storm, showcasing her awe-inspiring talent as a pianist while staying true to her roots.

At the tender age of four, Yuko found her rhythm in the world of classical piano in her hometown of Fukui. However, she didn't stay confined to just one genre. Growing up, she was drawn towards American R&B, Hip-Hop, and Blues, but it was jazz that struck a chord deep within her.

In fact, jazz captivated her so much that she dedicated her post-high school years to studying jazz piano. This early initiation into a multitude of genres fueled her music into an exotic mix, making it as unique as the artist herself.

Neil Nail Alexander

Born: April 18, 1960

Keyboardist Neil "Nail" Alexander has been performing, composing and working professionally for 50 years. His musical craft extends from performance, compositon, arranging and production to live sound, modern dance and film.

Grants from NYSCA and Meet The Composer gave Neil the opportunity to continue building on his composing skills. In addition to teaching piano and keyboard lessons, Neil also teaches Master Classes in Synthesizer Programming and Music Performance Technology. He leads and composes for X Ensemble, a contemporary chamber ensemble.

As an active musician he has recordings and/or a performance history with a variety of groups and artists such as Joe Lovano, Bob Meyer, Rez Abassi, Corey Glover, Mike Keneally, Gunther Hampel, Karl Berger, Tony "Thunder" Smith, Tal Ross (P-Funk), Charles Haynes, Erik Lawrence, and many others.

Chris Buono

Born: June 5, 1972

Chris Buono makes music with a guitar in his hands and pedals at his feet. As a leader Chris heads the forward-thinking Chris Buono Collective and the genre-bending Duo Calvo. As a sideman and/or guest soloist Chris Buono has performed and/or recorded with Dweezil Zappa, Snarky Puppy, Bumblefoot, Karsh Kale, Graham Haynes, David Fiuczynski, Oz Noy, Keith Carlock, Rodney Holmes, Steve Jenkins, Tony Grey, Dave Martone, Sophia Ramos, Dopapod, Consider the Source, Kung Fu, JAZZ IS PHSH, James Chance & The Contortions and many more.

As an educator Chris has taught guitarists from all over the world through Berklee College of Music, TrueFire, Guitar Player, Guitar One, Just Jazz Guitar, Hal Leonard, Alfred, Course Technology & Guitarinstructor.com among others. Chris Buono is responsible for 45 TrueFire courses including the celebrated Guitar Gym series, eight instructional books on guitar and music technology and nearly 50 guitar magazine articles.

The Arcangelo Pezzella Project is not just the name I use to register my recordings; it's my idea of jazz. It has no boundaries; it cannot be strictly confined in a style, a groove, a sound, and not labeled in any way. On the contrary, it blends a world of sounds to create new ones. That is my aim: trying to create new things from old ones, exploring idioms, rules, harmonic choices, grooves and more, and finding new ways to express what I am, feel and think. To do so, the need for incredibly talented and like-minded musicians is of the utmost importance and, luckily, I found them: Guido Foi (piano and keys), Alessandro Petricciuolo (bass), Francesco Pellegrino (drums) and featured artist Angela Addezio (vocals). "Out Of The Blue", shows the results of it: no track is the same, and yet they are linked in unexpected ways, leading the listener from a world to the next one in a smooth and smart way. Richard Niles

Internationally acclaimed composer, arranger, and producer Dr. Richard Niles is known for his work in pop (Paul McCartney, Pet Shop Boys, Cher, Tears for Fears, Grace Jones), jazz (Pat Metheny, Randy Brecker, Bob James, John Pattitucci, Gary Husband, Bob Mintzer), soul (Ray Charles, Tina Turner, James Brown, Michael McDonald). He has worked with actors Oliver Reed, Robert Powell, and Jessie Buckley.

His arrangements helped “define the sound of pop” (Making Music Magazine), while his work in jazz is “accessible, yet thought provoking” (Randy Brecker). Pop hits include Left to My Own Devices (Pet Shop Boys), Breakout (Swing Out Sister), and Sowing the Seeds of Love (Tears for Fears).

Kamil Abt

Kamil Abt is a Polish-Australian jazz guitarist, composer, band-leader and arranger. He is a graduate of the prestigious Elder Conservatorium of Music and has been performing internationally – in Australia, Japan and Europe – for over twenty years. His musical career started in Australia, in Steve Mooney’s hard bop quintet, “Fifth House”. It was there that he also led his own jazz formations: Mosholu Parkway, Jazzyowski and SpeciaL K, also working with musicians such as Adam Page, Daniel J. Ross, Constantinos Koutsouliotas and John Wilson. In Japan he worked in renowned alto saxophone player Hiroshi Yaginuma’s quintet as well as with the Atsushi Matsunaga quartet, while also leading his own quartet

Skinny Hightower

Born: November 12, 1985

A music producer with a solid background as a multi-instrumentalist jazz musician, Skinny Hightower emerged in 2017 with his self-released label debut Emotions which boasts a number one Billboard single in Taboo. He holds three total top 10 jazz Billboard singles to his name with One Way Street and Sample That following respectively from his follow-up release Retrospect in 2018. As an artist, he has performed at various events and jazz festivals to include the Seabreeze Jazz Festival and Catalina Island Jazztrax Festival. His full-range production style has earned him a reputation as a formidable artist in jazz, but his plans have shifted from that of an artist to a well-rounded and established record producer, evident in his involvement in many parallel projects for other artists.

Aaron Quarterman, Jr.

Born: February 15, 1995

Aaron Quarterman, Jr. aka "Aaron Qman"  has been playing the saxophone since he was nine years old. From his very first solo, Aaron decided that this is what he wanted to do with his life.  Born in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, Aaron first started playing the alto saxophone in 4th grade. In 7th  grade, he decided to switch to the tenor saxophone and hasn't looked back. He received private lessons from the late Mr. James Kilik of Settlement Music School.  Aaron Quarterman, Jr. was very inspired after listening to Charlie Parker growing up. As he got older, he started to listen to James Carter, John Coltrane, Lenny Pickett and Michael Brecker
