Aaron Quarterman, Jr. aka "Aaron Qman" has been playing the saxophone since he was nine years old. From his very first solo, Aaron decided that this is what he wanted to do with his life. Born in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, Aaron first started playing the alto saxophone in 4th grade. In 7th grade, he decided to switch to the tenor saxophone and hasn't looked back. He received private lessons from the late Mr. James Kilik of Settlement Music School. Aaron Quarterman, Jr. was very inspired after listening to Charlie Parker growing up. As he got older, he started to listen to James Carter, John Coltrane, Lenny Pickett and Michael Brecker. Aaron attended Bensalem High School and was a part of the Jazz Band for four years. The Jazz Band competed in various competitions in which Aaron was a featured soloist artist. He was awarded Outstanding Soloist for the Cavalcade High School Jazz Competition in 2013. In the same year, Aaron was also selected to play in the Bucks County Music Educators Association County Honors Band. After graduating from High School, Aaron attended Bucks County Community College and received his Associate Degree in Music in May 2016. During his time at the Community College, he was part of the Jazz Orchestra where he was a featured soloist. Working under Mr. Leonard Pierro and Mr. Jeff Baumeister, Aaron continued to improve his skills on the tenor saxophone. Aaron Quarterman, Jr. has developed a unique, versatile and precise style of playing. Currently at age 29, he is now singing and plays soprano saxophone, alto saxophone, flute, clarinet, piccolo, violin, piano, trumpet, flugelhorn, trombone chromatic harmonica, melodica, french horn and electric guitar. Aaron Quarterman aka "Aaron Qman" not only plays jazz but has now expanded his genres in Country, Pop, Rock and R&b from all diffrent decades! In October 2017, Aaron won first place at the first annual Sax and the City Competition and Showcase in West Philadelphia. He now continues to impress people across Bucks County and the Philadelphia region with his talent when he performs at Wilson's Restaurant, Logan Inn, South Restaurant and Chris’ Jazz Cafe. He was also a scholar for the Marion Anderson Historical Society in 2017. Aaron was studying at Temple University in Philadelphia (Fall 2016-Spring 2018) where he majored in Jazz Studies/Performance in which he studied with Mr. Ben Schachter. Aaron has also studied with Saturday Night Live Musical Director, Mr. Lenny Pickett. He is now a Temple graduate of 2018 with his Undergraduate Degree.
