De Beren Gieren

Better than anyone else, De Beren Gieren know how to blend an avant-garde sound with melodious pieces and references to the great classical composers of the 20th century. They effortlessly shift from more rigidly styled compositions to improvised sections and thus reveal the pulsating and ominous futuristic sound of a new world. More so than in previous albums, on “Dug Out Skyscrapers” (Sdban) harmonies and compelling grooves interact and disclose the future of the past... the album’s ‘Leitmotif’. Like dedicated archaeologists from the future, De Beren Gieren use subtle electronic effects to uncover the potential of their acoustic instruments layer by layer

Read "Forget Old Europe: 15 European Jazz Musicians You Need To Know About" reviewed by Enrico Bettinello

Since the first half of the 20th century, the Old Continent has played a pivotal role both in welcoming and supporting jazz artists from the United States. De Beren Gieren: One Mirrors Many

Read "One Mirrors Many" reviewed by Alberto Bazzurro

De Beren Gieren & Susana Santos Silva: The Detour Fish - Live in Ljubljana

Read "The Detour Fish - Live in Ljubljana" reviewed by Vincenzo Roggero

Discretamente informale, piacevolmente naive, dosi di humor disperso qua e là, freschezza di idee, entusiasmo giovanile, orecchio allenato, sguardo acuto. Si presenta così The Detour Fish -Live in Ljubljana terza fatica discografica del giovane trio belga De Beren Gieren qui arricchito dalla presenza dell'affermata trombettista portoghese Susana Santos Silva. L'improvvisazione minimale, struttura portante ...

SH.TG.N: SH.TG.N

Read "SH.TG.N" reviewed by Dave Wayne

Before the 21st Century, the worlds of metal and jazz rarely, if ever, intersected. But that's all changed, so much so that musicians from both sides of the fence are rethinking their music, demolishing self-imposed genre boundaries and coming up with some truly innovative sounds. Belgium's SH.TG.N has the same sort of pioneering spirit. Yes, the ...

SH.TG.N: SH.TG.N

Read "SH.TG.N" reviewed by AAJ Italy Staff

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
