Hazel Mitchell-Bell

Vocalist Hazel Mitchell-Bell has become one of Washington, D.C.’s first ladies of jazz. With highly praised first album, Stronger than Ever, under her belt, and another album set for release in 2020, she appears on festival, concert and club stages, enjoying one sellout after another. Working closely with pianist and Music Director Vince Evans, she performs in a big band and smaller ensembles, stoking the fires of the D.C. jazz scene.

The two have worked together since being introduced in 2016. In 2018 they released the CD Stronger Than Ever, which includes standards from the Great American Songbook and R&B hits backed by an 11-piece orchestra

Matthew Steckler

Matthew Steckler, aka Matty Stecks, performs and composes in several musical settings internationally. Since Fall 2017, he is on the faculty in Jazz & Contemporary Popular Music at the renowned Brandon University School of Music in Canada. Primarily a saxophonist/woodwind specialist, he also performs on vocals, keyboards, percussion and electronic media, bringing a dynamic, holistic approach to the live musical experience. His Musical Tramps project on Ropeadope Records features Canada’s Keith Price, Eric Platz, Matt Kozicki and special guests, and is a research-based exploration in jazz, popular, film and electroacoustic music idioms. As a composer and bandleader, Matthew has been recognized for his seminal work with the projects Dead Cat Bounce and Persiflage (Innova and Cuneiform labels), which made Best CD lists in Downbeat & Jazz Times, and earned commissions from Chamber Music America, Meet the Composer and American Composers Forum

After transferring to Atlanta, Georgia international jazz singer/songwriter and recording artist, Habaka Kay Foster Jackson extensively started performing throughout Europe participating in numerous Jazz, Gospel, and Blues festivals. Born in the music capital Nashville, Tennessee, and reared in Bloomfield, Connecticut Habaka was positively impacted by the constant influences of world-renowned talent during her formative years. Coming from a musical family her father Melvin Jackson was tenor saxophonist for the legendary B.B. King and her mother Mary Ann Jackson was also a jazz vocalist and dancer who traveled extensively in bands that included Elvis Presley

Carl Spencer

Carl Spencer encompasses a wide range of styles both "Hot" and "Sweet", being equally at home with the pretty Bix Beiderbecke-school of phrasing, the angular clipped syncopation of the Original Dixieland Jazzband, the biting attack and bitter blues feelings of Oliver, Keppard and Ladnier. He also portrays the many Dance-Band styles of the '20's and '30's, which allied to his mastery of mutes adds to his reputation as one of Britain's hottest players in the idiom.

John Pearce Violin

Born in Bristol, John Pearce began learning the violin at the age of seven and has since performed in Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark and Japan as well as at venues in London including the Royal Albert Hall, St. Martin in the Fields and St. John’s, Smith Square. He has performed live on BBC radio and television and has given world premieres of works by composers such as Sir Richard Rodney Bennett. As a soloist, he has performed concertos by Bach, Bruch, Beethoven and Brahms and has given duo recitals with pianist and composer Motoki Hirai. Festival performances have included the Cheltenham Music Festival, the Bath Festival and the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival. John had the honour of receiving an award from the Former Parliamentary under Secretary of State for an outstanding contribution to music and was awarded a bursary at the Royal Academy of Music where he studied with Gyorgy Pauk, later continuing his studies privately with Bela Katona
