Having been praised as possessing “pristine playing, meticulous composing” and “a very personal voice deserving of attention,” award-winning guitarist, composer, and educator Denin Slage-Koch has done a lot. He’s played and recorded with artists like Ryan Keberle, Shane Endsley, Carmen Bradford, Clay Jenkins, Brad Goode, Wycliffe Gordon, and the Colorado Symphony, written music for artists like Melissa Aldana and Carmen Bradford, recorded three albums of original music and served as sideman for many more, published a book, and is a full-time member of the jazz faculty at the University of Tennessee Knoxville - and he’s not even 30 years old yet. Put simply, he is one of the most exciting and unique rising musicians on the scene today.

Mary Amaral

Mary Amaral is a Brazilian singer songwriter whose work is composed of her influences, mainly classic jazz songs and R& B, combined in an original way with elements she received from Tom Jobim's Bossa Nova, João Gilberto and guitarrist Baden Powell's Afro Sambas with Vinícius de Moraes, among other Brazilian Classics. Mary is also a composer /lyricist, and is releasing her Ep of Brazilian Jazz, called Delineio. Matthew Steckler

Born:
Matthew Steckler, aka Matty Stecks, performs and composes in several musical settings internationally. Since Fall 2017, he is on the faculty in Jazz & Contemporary Popular Music at the renowned Brandon University School of Music in Canada. Primarily a saxophonist/woodwind specialist, he also performs on vocals, keyboards, percussion and electronic media, bringing a dynamic, holistic approach to the live musical experience. His Musical Tramps project on Ropeadope Records features Canada’s Keith Price, Eric Platz, Matt Kozicki and special guests, and is a research-based exploration in jazz, popular, film and electroacoustic music idioms. As a composer and bandleader, Matthew has been recognized for his seminal work with the projects Dead Cat Bounce and Persiflage (Innova and Cuneiform labels), which made Best CD lists in Downbeat & Jazz Times, and earned commissions from Chamber Music America, Meet the Composer and American Composers Forum

John Pearce Violin

Born in Bristol, John Pearce began learning the violin at the age of seven and has since performed in Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark and Japan as well as at venues in London including the Royal Albert Hall, St. Martin in the Fields and St. John’s, Smith Square. He has performed live on BBC radio and television and has given world premieres of works by composers such as Sir Richard Rodney Bennett. As a soloist, he has performed concertos by Bach, Bruch, Beethoven and Brahms and has given duo recitals with pianist and composer Motoki Hirai. Festival performances have included the Cheltenham Music Festival, the Bath Festival and the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival. John had the honour of receiving an award from the Former Parliamentary under Secretary of State for an outstanding contribution to music and was awarded a bursary at the Royal Academy of Music where he studied with Gyorgy Pauk, later continuing his studies privately with Bela Katona
