Christian Pabst

Amsterdam-based German jazz pianist Christian Pabst presents his third trio album: INNER VOICE. Working with an international lineup, Pabst and his long-term companions Marco Zenini (IT) on bass and Erik Kooger (NL) on drums have concocted eight originals sparkling with pure sound, lyric moods and thrilling improvisation. The press, when talking about Pabst, occasionally use attributes like „lyricist at the piano“ and „outstanding musical poet“. This might be due to the fact that his music is always based on a story, a very personal story in his mind: Pabst, who is also a seasoned movie score composer, sees himself as a programmatic narrator, thinking in pictures while writing and performing

Read "Země" reviewed by Friedrich Kunzmann

Dedicated to our planet, Země finds Denmark-based saxophonist Lubos Soukup's Quartet joined by Lionel Loueke for a rich set of earthy tunes (pun intended). Not allowing the slightest hypocrisy to shine through, even the booklet of the quartet's ...

Christian Pabst Trio + 7: Song of Opposites

Read "Song of Opposites" reviewed by Vincenzo Roggero

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
