With the debut of his new Italian group, the internationally renowned German pianist Christian Pabst expresses his passion for the sounds of the “south” and simultaneously writes a musical love letter to his adopted home Italy. In search of melodic beauty, he finds Inspiration between the 44th grade north and the 44th grade south, the only region in the world where palm trees grow. And it’s that line, warm, sunny, full of life, music and mystery that gives this new album its name: THE PALM TREE LINE. The listener embarks on an intense and gratifying journey accompanied by Italian movie soundtracks, an explosive interpretation of Bernstein’s “Mambo”, the elegant Cuban sounds of “Alhambra” and the ironic love Mexican love story “Déjame Llorar”. The music of this work take life during the soundset, when the colors intensify and day and night coexist. Past and present flow into each other, dream and reality become one. This album is a step Ahead in the career of the virtuoso German pianist. After four records with exclusively original material, THE PALM TREE LINE marks the first time that Pabst interprets music of other composers. Furthermore, it’s the debut of his new Italian band that sees next to Francesco Pierotti on double-bass and Lorenzo Brilli on drums, two fantastic guest musicians: the singer Ilaria Forciniti and the accordionist Federico Gili. All About Jazz calls the musical vision of Pabst “a surrender to the beauty of music”. With THE PALM TREE LINE, his most personal album to date, the pianist shows an impressive control of his instrument, a melodic sensibility and the capacity to create together with his musicians a strong rhythmic energy.
