Scott Samenfeld

Born:
Scott Samenfeld has been performing in the Boston area since he attended Berklee in the early 70’s. He is currently the leader of my own group, “Muse Stew”. They perform his original compositions as well as tunes from many other Jazz and Latin artists. They utilize percussion instruments in place of the traditional drum set as a way to connect with the African, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian and other folkloric rhythmical origins of Jazz. This blending of contemporary musical elements with spices and flavors from around the world gives us a very unique take on both jazz standards and original works. The band began its life many years ago performing jazz and poetry in settings such as the Bookcellar Cafe and in local coffee houses. We continue to integrate poetry and other disciplines into our performances.
