Rene Hart

I play and write music that lies somewhere between jazz, avant-garde, pop and folk music. I like strong melodies and long walks on a modal vamp. I'm fascinated by the interaction of really good acoustic sounds and electronics. I love many kinds of music and bright, interesting people. I've also played bass with many artists including; David Amram, James Hunter, Pete Seeger, Bill McHenry, Myra Melford, Don Braden, Anat Fort, Jeff Lederer, Julian Priester, Bilal, Branford Marsalis, Joan Osbourne, Dakota Staton, George Russell, Kirk Knuffke, Steven Bernstein, Erik Lawrence, John Medeski, Seamus Blake, Eyvind Kang, Chris Cheek, Phillip Harper, Billy Hart, Sarah Manning, Mark Ronson, Jessica Lurie, Abraham Burton, Wayne Horvitz, Sasha Dobson, Bobby Watson, Eric Mingus, Skerik, Honey Ear Trio, Syrinx Effect, Didi Gutman, Allison Miller and if I left you out by mistake, I still love you.

Amy Shook

Amy Shook is one of the most in-demand acoustic bassists in the mid-Atlantic, coveted for her huge sound and infectious, driving groove. In addition to being a premier performing and recording artist, a multi-instrumentalist (acoustic bass, electric bass, violin, viola, and cello), she is an accomplished composer, and her personality truly comes through in her writing. Amy co-leads the Shook/Russo 4tet, a band she started in 2004 with her husband, tenor saxophonist Pat Shook, and drummer Frank Russo. Along with their guitarist Jonathan Epley, the SR4tet’s focus has always been to compose and perform their own original music within the jazz idiom, honoring the masters by carrying on the tradition
