International Troubadours: Sacred Ground

Chi erano i trovatori? Più o meno gli antesignani medievali degli attuali cantautori. Chi sono, invece, gli International Troubadours? Un open duo, tutto italiano (Alberto Turra e Davide Tedesco) che si è già messo in evidenza con il disco d'esordio Perché il vento non tace.

Non suonano con la viella. Non cantano le loro liriche in lingua d'oc. Sono cavalieri elettrici, invece, che affidano i loro proclami a una Fender o a un Shakuhachi (un flauto diritto giapponese), a un contrabbasso o a una batteria preparata. Tutto qui? Non proprio. Perché il loro secondo lavoro, Sacred Ground, porta con sé un messaggio ben preciso.

È come uno scrigno che svela i segreti ad ogni ascolto. L'iniziale "Calli" ha un sapore ancestrale: è come se osservassimo con nostalgia e disperazione dallo spazio quel che rimane del nostro pianeta terra. Turra con la sua chitarra elettrica introduce un tema arpeggiato, prima di spaziare nell'effettistica dagli aromi lunari e prima ancora di spingersi in crescendo distorti. Le percussioni di Alberto Pederneschi e il contrabbasso di Tedesco sorreggono le escursioni come se volessero respingere la forza di gravità.

È uno scenario suggestivo che prosegue con gli echi jazz rock di "Cuore di bue," quelli più arcigni e free di "Balcano," a metà strada tra il tempo sospeso della cortesia medievali e le spinte moderniste dell'elettricità. Il jazz pieno di brio e ambrato di folk di "Hijacking" e quello riflessivo di "Col di lana".

Vale davvero la pena di ascoltare questi "trovatori elettrici". Vi sveleranno i segreti di un mondo di suoni che sembrava perso nel tempo.
