Romano classe 1992, il chitarrista Paolo Zou presenta il suo primo disco a proprio nome, il cui titolo è una dedica alle sue origini sarde —Piscinas è nome di una spiaggia vicina al paese della sua famiglia. Formatosi da giovanissimo alla storica scuola di Musica Popolare di Testaccio, Zou ha svolto una pluralità di attività di perfezionamento, fino alla laurea al Saint Louis Music College. Molte anche le esperienze artistiche, in ambito jazzistico ma anche in quelli pop e rock.

Qui lo troviamo a interpretare sue composizioni originali, alla testa di un trio classicamente jazzistico, ma caratterizzato da una ritmica che si ispira per sonorità e intensità sonora al rock, dato che Stefano Rossi imbraccia esclusivamente il basso elettrico e Alessio Baldelli conferisce alla batteria una presenza sempre piuttosto marcata, quando non addirittura aggressiva.

Il leader, tuttavia, alterna la chitarra elettrica a quelle acustica e classica, usando occasionalmente perfino il banjo, quindi ora assecondando il suono della ritmica, come nel caso della iniziale "Squat" o di "Mazinga," ora invece sfruttandone il contrasto, come in quello della successiva "Monolite"—ove ai delicati arpeggi fa da contraltare il poderoso incedere della batteria—o "H501B"—ove invece il contrasto è dato dalla spinta del basso.

Album particolarmente interessante per gli appassionati del tipo di formazione, vetrina per un artista eclettico e raffinato nella sua azione sulle corde.
