Roger Davidson: Pensando en ti

Le musiche del Sudamerica affascinano da tempo il pianista e compositore nato a Parigi e adesso residente a New York Roger Davidson, interessato tanto alla musica sinfonica e da camera quanto a tango e musica brasiliana.

Continuando a perseguire i propri interessi con piglio enciclopedico desso è arrivato al bolero ed alla rumba e per questo lavoro ha scelto dei sidemen che hanno lasciato un'importante traccia nel latin jazz avendo partecipato ad importanti progetti con personalità quali Paquito d'Rivera, Chico O`Farrill, David Sanchez, ecc. e che qui suonano leggendo partiture adatte alle qualità tecniche del leader. Il risultato è un disco gradevole, epidermico, da colonna sonora per un film rivolto al vasto pubblico, con poca improvvisazione ed un buon livello tecnico esecutivo dei sidemen, che dimostrano di essere più di semplici musicisti da studio.
