Danilo Perez Big Band: Panama Suite

Un disco insolito per il pianista di origine panamense Danilo Perez, alla guida di una big band di studenti della Berklee College of Music e registrato ovviamente in loco. Insolito per la durata, circa un quarto d'ora, di una musica dall'elevato valore artistico divisa in tre movimenti, in cui musica panamense ed elementi urbani trovano un equilibrio preciso, condito da assoli di ottima fattura.

Bello il terzo movimento, in cui un quintetto di voce femminili canta costituendo un affascinante contrappunto ai suoni della big band. Un lavoro che oltre a confermare la notevole professionalità dei musicisti coinvolti, cioè insegnante e studenti, mostra una composizione degna di essere ripresa in altra veste.

Insomma, se non si misura la qualità delle incisioni con il minutaggio delle stesse, è pur vero che il pubblico si aspetta un pò piú di quindici minuti dall'acquisto di un'incisione digitale.
