Jordan White: Music for Imaginary Spaces
È così che si è messo ad analizzare e trascrivere brani vocali di tradizioni cristiane ortodosse bizantine, georgiane e armene. Ed è stata una rivelazione, esattamente in rapporto a quanto appena detto: una musica specifica per uno spazio specifico. "Da questa prospettivaprosegue Whiteè nata l'idea di comporre per luoghi che non esistono: ambienti immaginari costruiti attraverso il suono."
Fra Colonia e Berlino è stato registrato così nel corso del 2025 in cinque diverse sessioni di lavoro questo Music for Imaginary Spaces, in cui White è affiancato, in combinazioni varie, da un gruppo di cinque musicisti (sei se consideriamo anche Ehwald, presente peraltro in un unico brano), dove in ogni caso sono i suoni plastici, rotondi, avvolgenti, degli ottoni gravi (un corno e due tromboni) a generare il clima morbido e fortemente evocativo, qua e là anche carico di presagi, che permea il lavoro e nel contempo sembra proprio evocare ciò che l'autore ci ha così minuziosamente descritto.
Al netto di qualche eccesso iterativo, un album di sicuro spessore e potere seduttivo.
