About the Album
One would be hard pressed to name three more accomplished and thoughtful musicians than saxophonist Mark Turner, bassist Joe Martin and drummer Marcus Gilmore. Now the three have come together as The Phoenix Trio. Their debut “Tomorrow is Today” was recorded over two nights at Ornithology in Brooklyn. The album begins with “The Fencer,” a Martin original which shows how these three greats can sound both meditative and magical.
