BoZiLo: Live

"Offellee fà el tò mesté", pasticciere fai il tuo mestiere, recita un vecchio adagio milanese. Chi vi scrive segue Bojan Zulfikarpasic sin dai tempi di "Bojan Z Quartet," registrato nel 1993 per la Label Bleu, ed aveva guardato con una certa apprensione alla deriva presa dal pianista negli ultimi anni. Prima c'era stata la svolta americana. Per inseguire un jazz (e forse un mercato?) di impostazione statunitense, Zulfikarpasic stava diluendo, annacquando, perdendo, il suo tratto stilistico emblematico e caratterizzante: la matrice balcanica. Poi c'era stato Xenophonia (del 2006), album che ci aveva lasciato con non poche perplessità.

Salutiamo dunque con piacere questo ritorno alle origini di Bojan Z. Un ritorno per certi versi minore, in quanto legato alla dimensione live e quindi privo della progettualità tipica di un album in studio. Ma comunque un buon segno. Anche perché vediamo il pianista ricongiungersi con Julien Lourau, con cui aveva collaborato intensamente negli anni '90, e con Karim Ziad, al suo fianco in Koreni (del 1999), ultimo album balcanico di Zulfikarpasic prima della svolta.

Parliamo di Bojan Z perché BoZiLo significa in realtà Bojan Z Trio. E' infatti evidente sin dalle prime note che questo "Live" (uscito per la JMS e distribuito in Italia da IRD), sebbene formalmente co-diretto, è di fatto un album di Zulfikarpasic. Non tanto per spirito egemonico del pianista, sempre molto misurato nei suoi interventi, quanto per la natura intrinseca dello strumento. La dura legge del pianoforte, verrebbe da dire. E forse anche la dura legge di chi, come Zulfikarpasic, ha uno stile netto e riconoscibile.

Conseguentemente, l'album segue gli umori del leader e si muove in modo altalenante. Molto buono, a tratti eccellente, quando Zulfikarpasic si tuffa con voluttà nelle sue origini balcaniche (una splendida versione di Ederlezi, traditional reso celebre da Goran Bregovic). Pur sempre gradevole, ma meno brillante e personale, quando la musica si appoggia in modo più deciso sul jazz.
