È una performance di chiara identità interpretativa, un concentrato di lucidità creativa nell'interpretare con ariosa levità alcuni dei più amati standard del suo repertorio discografico. La scelta di questi brani esalta oltretutto la linearità d'eloquio dei due leader, accumunati da una chiarezza espressiva che trae alimento da un gioco di ripetizioni variate in cui le frasi sono distillate in maniera sempre nuova.
Seppur non fondamentale, è comunque un CD illuminante per capire come nel 1972 Baker fosse già un classico vivente, appartenente a quella ristretta schiera di artisti per i quali la musica è sinonimo di poesia.
