Erik Truffaz: In Between
L'iniziale "The Secret of the Dead Sea," per esempio, si snoda su oltre dieci minuti di ambient-music in cui l'immobilità che pervade il brano rimane tale fino alla fine, senza alimentare quella tensione necessaria in questo genere di esecuzioni. Le due tracce con la vocalist Sophie Hunger ci portano nei territori della pop-song di qualità e forse sono le cose migliori dell'intero album (davvero interessante la versione della dylaniana "Dirge").
La title-track è uno slow tempo azzeccato, "Fujin" è una ballad ombrosa ma eccessivamente statica, "Lost in Bogota" è innervata da un piacevole spirito funky, "BC One" è drum & bass vibrante, leggermente ammantato di malinconia. Malinconia sparsa a piene mani nel conclusivo "Le gens du voyage," un ritorno a casa verso il primo amore (Miles Davis) che non si scorda mai.
