Massimo Colombo: Il gioco delle forme
Molto apprezzabile dunque questo tentativo di Colombo che apre l'album con una suite di nove brevi movimenti. Nove movimenti che racchiudono altrettanti orizzonti espressivi (e forme musicali), oscillanti tra il jazz, la musica cosiddetta colta, la canzone. Idee, accenni, quasi pensieri ad alta voce, messi sul piatto senza nessuna pretesa di compiutezza. All'opposto, forse con il gusto dell'incompiuto ed inesplorato. Sempre con un suono cristallino, con un gusto per il tocco, che ci ricordano l'impostazione classica del pianista.
La seconda parte dell'album ci riconduce a brani di durata ed atmosfere più convenzionali, e risulta meno convincente. Il cuore, ed il pregio, dell'album, è nella prima parte. Nella suite, appunto. All'interno della quale non è infrequente imbattersi in piccole, preziose, gemme.
