Alessandro Altarocca 4tet: Helios

Buon album di jazz, senza aggettivi di contorno, fatto secondo tutti i sacri crismi. Alternando brani lenti e veloci. Mettendo in scaletta composizioni originali e qualche standard, anche non particolarmente frequentato ("Eronel" di Monk). Registrato con spirito live, ovvero suonando con molta grinta ed energia. Cosa che fa passare in secondo piano, o quanto meno perdonare volentieri, quella certa mancanza di originalità inevitabile quando ci si muove lungo queste coordinate.

Peraltro, Altarocca ha una scrittura felice, e l'introduzione di composizioni altrui (gli standard, appunto) ci sembra più un atto dovuto, un tributo ai grandi maestri nel momento in cui si realizza il proprio album, che non un'autentica esigenza espressiva. Non a caso, il CD raggiunge i suoi momenti migliori nelle composizioni originali eseguite in quartetto, dove si mette in evidenza un Tino Tracanna particolarmente ispirato.
