Nel classico della bossanova "O Cantador," di Dori Caymmi, troviamo la calda voce di Kurt Elling che crea un'atmosfera molto coinvolgente unendosi, senza sopraffare, a quella della leader. "The Man I Love" si fa apprezzare per le atmosfere eteree create dall'organo hammond di Gary Versace e dalla chitarra di Keith Ganz e nel finale si sente tutto il pathos della voce della McGarry. Momenti incantati in "Looking Back" con un arrangiamento unplugged per solo voce e chitarra con ritmi latini nella cover di "Charade," di Henry Mancini, caratterizzata dal contributo caldo e passionale delle percussioni e da un assolo di Hammond.
In quest'opera, il pop e il folk uniti a fluidità jazz e improvvisazione vivacizzano il disco, rendendone piacevole l'ascolto. Girl Talk è un album che allieterà i fans di questa vocalist che, in 20 anni di carriera, ha sempre saputo mantenere classe e coerenza.
