Mariangela Bettanini: Emotionally, Mariangela Bettanini
Il risultato è a tratti sorprendente, soprattutto in quei brani dove Mariangela Bettanini si allontana dai classici canoni interpretativi della jazz singer per utilizzare grinta, energia, timbriche scure e ruvide, escursioni tonali insolite e attraversare con originalità melodie ormai usurate. E poi c’e Moroni, sempre straordinario e inventivo al pianoforte - basta l’assolo in “My Favourite Things“ per rendersene conto - che si guarda bene dal trasferire la potente effervescenza del suo stile pianistico sul fender rhodes che, al contrario, accarezza e coccola, piegandolo verso sonorità dolci e morbide.
Piacciono lo spirito danzante dai profumi caraibici di “My Favourite Things“ con la selvaggia chiusura della Bettanini, gli esperimenti vocali di “With a Song in my Heart“, la gioiosa vitalità di “Sina“, l’intensità di “Spiritual“, con un grande Paolino Dalla Porta, la delicatezza vellutata di “Pra Dizer Adeus“. Non tutti gli episodi sono riuscitissimi, ma Emotionally, Mariangela Bettanini è un disco interessante, che regge senza particolari problemi a ripetuti ascolti e lascia un gradevole ricordo di sé.
