Egea Orchestra: Di mezzo il mare
L'approccio dell'orchestra è strutturalmente da classica Big Band, con due o tre soli per brano e un gran lavoro d'assieme. L'atmosfera, invece, è come si può immaginare molto "nostrana" - e da questo punto di vista le composizioni di Mazzocchetti sono pienamente in tono con la più caratteristica produzione Egea.
La compostezza generale del lavoro, che spicca in brani come "Terra d'ombre" o "Porto antico", si unisce a pezzi di bravura dei solisti, tra i quali spiccano in particolare un ispiratissimo e trascinante Gabriele Mirabassi, Pietro Tonolo (specie ove impegnato al soprano) ed Enrico Pieranunzi.
Un lavoro che, nella sua complessità, si fa apprezzare particolarmente come simbolo compiuto di una modalità jazzistica che la Egea ormai ha contribuito a rendere un classico.
