David Sanborn's passing really stirred up a lot of memories of top-down cruisin' on the road, stereo blasting, and a lot of good times. So much has been written about David, and I can only add how much I loved that soundyou knew it right offand his ability to play in any context. Rock on' David My tribute is at the end of this episode of One Man's Jazz. New albums sampled come from a new band from Finland called Tahmela Six which has some of that country's best improvisers contributing to their debut Mount, William Parker's first spoken word album Cereal Music with Ellen Christi, (there's more spoken word/poetry from Amiri Baraka on the Gaspare Di Lieto album), saxophonist Alan Braufman's latest, one from the frequent collaborators from Italydrummer Tiziano Tononi and violinist Emanuele Parrini, and Umbra II from the quartet of pianist Elias Stemeseder and drummer Christian Lillinger.Playlist
