Dopo Havana Blue (Dodicilune 2017) prosegue il viaggio di Adriano Clemente nei territori della musica cubana, con brani originali ispirati a vari stili di quella tradizione musicale. "In occasione del mio secondo viaggio a L'Avana nel dicembre 2016—ha detto il compositore—ho contattato Eduardo Sandoval, un giovane trombonista di talento il cui primo cd Caminos Abiertos mi aveva particolarmente colpito." Quell'incontro ha portato a questa session dell'Akashmani Ensemble, un medio organico giovani talenti che eseguono otto composizioni del musicista salentino.
Nato a Lecce nel 1958, Clemente è un musicista versatile che ha esplorato vari ambiti musicali, dalla musica rinascimentale a vari aspetti della musica tradizionale indiana, dal jazz al minimalismo.

Come nel precedente anche in questo disco sono evidenti le influenze della musica cubana degli anni cinquanta e sessanta, quella di Bebo Valdes e Mario Bauza per intenderci, ma non mancano riferimenti alle radici africane.
Il disco si apre e chiude con due versioni di "Cuban Fires" in cui si ascoltano brevi canti Yoruba (invocazioni a Obatalà eseguite da Sandoval con l'accompagnamento di tamburi batà) a suggellare la bella sequenza di assoli. Le composizioni e gli arrangiamenti sono piacevoli e si sviluppano in un bel gioco di relazioni e interventi personali. Particolarmente ricercato è "Olvidado," tema interamente scritto che si sviluppa in due sezioni, la prima con protagonisti il clarinetto di Emir Santa Cruz Hernández e il piano di Alejandro Falcòn e la seconda che si sviluppa a ritmo di guajira con assoli in sequenza.
