Lisa Ullén - Nina de Heney: Carve

Quest'album è il debutto del duo formato dalla pianista Lisa Ullén e dalla contrabbassista Nina de Heney. Entrambe sono artiste d'avanguardia con retroterra jazzistico ed operano nella scena della libera improvvisazione scandinava. La Ullen guida un suo stabile quartetto che ha da poco pubblicato il secondo album (Revolution Rock); la seconda è stata allieva di Miroslav Vitous al New England Conservatory di Boston nei primi anni ottanta e s'è poi perfezionata all'Accademia della musica dell'Università di Goteborg. Nel 2008 ha avuto una nomination per il premio svedese "Jazzkatten".

Questo doppio CD registrato nel gennaio 2009, è una sequenza di improvvisazioni istantanee, caratterizzate dalla continua esplorazione della forma, ai confini tra suoni e rumori. La Ullén usa di preferenza il piano preparato e la partner usa il contrabbasso in tutte le sue possibilità, comprese quelle percussive.

Siamo nel campo dell'opera aperta, come diceva Umberto Eco, e non è facile trovare delle strutture di riferimento: la trama è spesso imprevedibile e prende spunto da giochi ritmici, relazioni tra note, quasi mai da scheletri tematici. Prevale una dimensione aleatoria, ricca di movimentazioni sotterranee, che ha molti punti di contatto con la musica contemporanea. Le invenzioni sonore sono però sorprendenti e spesso suggestive. Strettamente consigliato a chi segue l'avanguardia radicale.
