John Lindberg BC3: Born in an Urban Ruin
Trio di squisita fisionomia cameristica, qui registrato nel maggio 2016, il BC3 di John Lindberg riporta sotto i riflettori il bassista del Michigan con un lavoro degno dei suoi migliori trascorsi. Già la conformazione clarinetto-vibrafono-contrabbasso denota quanto ci si avvicini a un'idea—appunto— cameristica del fare jazz, non senza rimandare qua e là a colui che fu la massima autorità in materia, Jimmy Giuffre (anche se magari con un piano o una chitarra al posto del vibrafono).

Già la partenza in clarinetto solo della prima delle tre versioni di "Swooping Deep" denuncia eloquentemente gli intenti del disco, mentre l'immediatamente successivo "Vermont Roadside Family" vede il comporsi del trio, con Lindberg (altro elemento eloquente) che impugna per la prima volta (di svariate) l'archetto, laddove un possente pizzicato occupa per esempio il cuore della sezione centrale della suite intitolata "The Left Wrist" e dedicata alla memoria di Roy Campbell.

Attraverso momenti anche più nervosi, increspati (per esempio in "The Excavation" o in "Devastation of Vegetation"), l'album procede poi felicemente fino al termine dei suoi cinquanta minuti scarsi (durata a sua volta ideale) senza segnare praticamente mai il passo, anzi tenendo sempre viva l'attenzione di chi ascolta con i suoi tracciati di estrema bellezza timbrica e dinamiche mai scontate.

Un signor disco, senza dubbio alcuno.
