Basta scorrere i titoli dei brani proposti per capire quanto tale magistero sia qui esposto a livelli praticamente paradigmatici (come sempre, o quasi, del resto), senza particolari sorprese o colpi d'ala (il che non è una novità) ma con una purezza complessiva che non può non attrarre e affascinare chi del pianista di Plainfield sappia (e magari abbia) quasi tutto alla stessa stregua di chi invece ne conosca solo le opere essenziali.
Dovendo pescare in questo autentico scrigno di pietre preziose, in primis proprio compositive, indicheremmo per una volta i brani più mossi (senza alcun intento di univocità, ci mancherebbe) e quindi, snocciolandoli uno dopo l'altro, "Summertime," "Re: Person I Knew," "Israel" e l'intera cinquina che va da "Nardis" all'immancabile (caso non unico, del resto, come abbiamo detto) "Waltz for Debby." Di quali gemme di eleganza, buon gusto e misura possa trattarsi ogni appassionato di jazz, persino un po' distratto, lo può tranquillamente immaginare da solo.
