After a decade and a half break, the always interesting Either/Orchestra is back with another compelling recording--albeit one recorded in 2011 and 2012, and only now, in 2026, seeing the light of day. Russ Gershon remains at the helm of the Either/Orchestra, and not only is this recording finally being issued, but the group is also in the midst of 40th anniversary touring schedule with shows later this spring of 2026 scheduled for Knoxville and Cleveland.

Non è facile trovare dischi veramente originali. Per cui ben vengano produzioni come quelle del trombonista Joel Yennior, che ci offre un disco, se non avanguardistico, almeno di confronto sincero con la tradizione e con i musicisti l'hanno resa tale. Il suono del trombone di Yennior, pastoso, vocale, ricco di effetti growl e molto comunicativo si incrocia con una chitarra elettrica ed una batteria. Una scelta coraggiosa che offre una miscela molto particolare, senza per questo allontanarsi da centri tonali. ...

Suonare per il piacere di farlo. Un-due-tre-quattro. Pronti? Via! Non c'è gran che di cerebrale in questo nuovo album dei Gypsy Schaeffer. Si espone brevemente il tema, e poi ampio spazio all'improvvisazione, senza troppi freni o sovrastrutture. Senza gabbie stilistiche. L'album si muove con disinvoltura tra swing e free, tra bop e contemporanea. C'è, in questo vagare tra un genere e l'altro con assoluta naturalezza e padronanza di linguaggio, un che di stupefacente. Ma anche, per certi versi, di avvilente. ...
