Album Description
Ever After is a live album by vibraphonist Martin Fabricius with bassist Steve Swallow, guitarist Brad Shepik and drummer Claes Brondal, recorded at Southampton Arts Center in New York in 2018. The album features five compositions by Fabricius and three by Swallow, including Como en Vietnam and the title track Ever After.
The concert was the first and only performance by this quartet. Unknown to the musicians at the time, engineers Dan Williams and George Howard recorded the concert. Kevin Appleby wrote in UK Jazz News:
“Listening to the ease with which the collective works and the music flows I wonder what their path might have been. As it is we must simply be grateful to the engineers on the night – Dan Williams and George Howard – for capturing what feels like a special occasion, and credit Fabricius for his initial vision to make everything come together. It’s a treat to have the: ‘What’s going to happen?’ question answered with music and performances this good.”
