Vibraphone player, composer and educator

Danish vibraphonist and composer Martin Fabricius is a renewer of the vibraphone, expanding its possibilities through new playing techniques, electronics and a personal approach to sound and composition. A former student of Gary Burton, he has developed his own approach to the instrument while building on the modern four-mallet tradition. Fabricius has performed and recorded with musicians including Steve Swallow, Tomasz Stańko, Jimmy Haslip and Jamaaladeen Tacuma, and has toured extensively throughout Europe, the United States, Asia, Africa and South America. Since 2007, the Martin Fabricius Trio with bassist Andreas Markus and drummer Jacob Hatholt has performed more than 200 concerts and released five albums, including *Out of the White*, which received five stars from *All About Jazz*, and *Under the Same Sky*, awarded five stars by German magazine *JazzThetik*. The trio has been among the most played jazz groups on Danish National Radio P8 Jazz. Fabricius' work ranges from melodic contemporary jazz to solo vibraphone, free improvisation, Latin music and fusion. Recordings include *One* for solo vibraphone, *Clouds* with Randi Pontoppidan, *Glaciers* with Elsa Nilsson, *Cambio* with Neff Irizarry and Jimmy Haslip, and the Scandinavian Art Ensemble's *Copenhagen Sessions* featuring Tomasz Stańko. His 2026 album *Ever After – Live at Southampton Arts Center* features Steve Swallow, Brad Shepik and Claes Brondal.
