Album Description
Released on December 1, 2020 during the pandemic, "Crazy He Calls Me" marked Billie Eidson's debut single — a teaser for her forthcoming first album, Sometimes I Love You, released the following January. The single sums up Eidson's love affair with the Great American Songbook and with the musicians she chooses to share the bandstand with.
The song itself is a jazz standard composed by Carl Sigman with lyrics by Bob Russell, first made famous by Billie Holiday in a 1949 recording for Decca. Eidson's version arrives as the culmination of her studies with regional jazz mentors and educators, including Seattle Jazz Hall of Fame vocalist Greta Matassa — described by bassist and producer John Clayton as "one of the best jazz singers we have to boast about these days."
Looking back on the year that led to this debut, Eidson reflected: "If 2020 could be summed up in one word? It's been CARAAAAZZZZY! But, on a positive note, my single debuts December 1, 2020! It's a teaser for what's to come in my official album, Sometimes I Love You."
