Album Description
Fun House is drummer Todd Strait's project — a four-time Grammy nominee, with nods for his work with Karrin Allyson (two), Eldar, and Randy Porter and Nancy King — featuring longtime mentor and collaborator Bill Mays, who composed and arranged every tune on the album, with Tom Wakeling on bass. Strait himself steps out from behind the kit to sing lead vocals on "Round About," featuring lyrics by the celebrated light-verse poet Ogden Nash. Billie Eidson appears as featured guest vocalist on eight of the tunes, bringing her own personal stamp to a handful of songbook treasures within the collection, including "When I Fall in Love" and "Lucky to Be Me."
Strait has described Eidson's contribution to the project in his own words: "Billie personalizes these tunes like no one else. Her energy and graciousness made our week of rehearsing and recording uniquely special. I'm proud of what she brought to this project."
Recorded at Heavywood Studio, with mixing and post-production by Randy Porter, and mastered in New York, Fun House is an extraordinary collection of songbook treasures and original compositions — including the title track by Mays himself — anchored by the deep musical rapport between Strait, Mays, Wakeling, and Porter himself.
