Jessica Jones Quartet: Word
E la cosa sorprende davvero considerando che la Jones e il suo quartetto sono da anni coinvolti nei fermenti della musica improvvisata e sperimentale e nel gruppo compaiono i nomi di Lou Grassi, Kenny Wollesen e Ken Filiano, musicisti notoriamente allergici ai luoghi comuni musicali. Le cose vanno un po’ meglio con la facciata B, dove il poetry di Arisa White e Abe Maneri conferisce una buona ragion d’essere al titolo del CD, ed interagisce in maniera interessante con il resto dei musicisti.
Ma non basta la raffinata improvvisazione collettiva dell’ultimo brano per allontanare da Word l’impressione di un disco incerto e sconclusionato.
