Clementine Gasser - Jacek Kochan - Tellef Ogrim: What's Wrong with Now?

Questo bel trio multinazionale si tuffa a testa in giù nel fiume limaccioso della musica sperimentale nel corso di un concerto registrato in studio alla fine di settembre del 2010, a Vienna. La violoncellista svizzera Clementine Gasser ha forse il ruolo centrale nel portare avanti il filo dell'improvvisazione ma dietro di lei il polacco Jacek Kochan e il norvegese Tellef Ogrim, rispettivamente alle percussioni e alla chitarra fretless, non sono da meno nel fornire stratificazioni importanti che si solidificano immediatamente, come se fossero le colate di lava incandescente di un vulcano artico.

Kochan dipinge trame frastagliate e raramente si preoccupa di sottolineare il ritmo, preferendo invece ricamare e frastagliare lo spazio temporale. La chitarra fretless di Ogrim è fonte di sonorità che stanno a cavallo fra occidente ed oriente, cariche di tensioni che si risolvono incrociandosi con gli atri strumenti. L'energia della performance live è dirompente e il racconto non si ferma mai per compiacimenti o narcisismi di sorta. La precisione della registrazione in studio ci consente di cogliere ogni minima sfumatura, ogni piccolo dettaglio. Sulle tracce dell'infinito.
