Hamid Drake - Paolo Angeli: Uotha
Magia è l’unica parola che ci viene in mente per consigliarvi questo concerto, dove molto è lasciato in sospeso dai due strabilianti strumentisti; ma dove moltissimo è allo stesso tempo sviscerato in una forma assolutamente semplice, piacevole, vorticosa, sperimentale.
Suoni, strumentazione, ma anche patrimonio di conoscenze, bagaglio di esperienze umane, retroterra e ancora ossessioni personali, maniacalità, follia, misticismo, esuberanza, tutto crea sostanza e forma nelle otto tracce di questo splendido lavoro [i titoli sono già di per sè brevi versi di poesia].
Uotha, che esce per la neonata Nu Bop Records, a distanza di più di un anno dalla sua uscita rimane un CD che consigliamo. Per due ragioni. La prima perché dimostra che due musicisti tanto diversi possono trascorrere una serata improvvisando e riuscendo, al tempo stesso, a dare conto anche al pubblico del percorso che fanno le rispettive sensibilità. La seconda è perché in tutto il percorso che fanno viene diffusa un piacevolissimo aroma, che effonde suoni incrinati, contaminati, ma capaci sempre di ammaliare, perchè magici, in eterna e divina sospensione.
