Il pianista e polistrumentista ravennate Christian Ravaglioli è un musicista classico trentacinquenne, diplomato in pianoforte ed oboe, che ha operato ed opera in varie orchestre sinfoniche come l'orchestra del Teatro alla Scala o l'Orchestra di Santa Cecilia.

In questo suo lavoro la componente cameristica è centrale ma l'autore mostra di conoscere ambiti musicali (come le ricerche di Zorn, che ricambia tessendone le lodi in copertina) molto poco frequentati dai suoi colleghi. In aggiunta a questi, si relaziona con dimensioni etniche e sonorità rock, in un percorso vario e stimolante.

Il disco consta di undici quadri musicali che esplorano i diversi ambiti con altrettanti organici (dal piano solo al settetto) mantenendo una coerenza di fondo nel privilegiare la dimensione impressionista e nella particolare attenzione dedicata a quella melodica. Alcuni brani sono bozzetti dalle tinte radiose ("The Last Wood Child"), in altri l'esplorazione si fa più astratta e sperimentale ("Verso il segno," "Ilha grande") ma i percorsi sono ben costruiti e spesso suggestivi.

Non mancano poi brani dalla fattura più elaborata come il ricercato e fantasioso "Melody Comes From" dove si confrontano elementi diversi: manipolazioni sonore, il jazzistico clarinetto basso di Achille Succi, gli interventi vocali di John DeLeo ed altro ancora.
