Jazz has a magical way of uniting people: there is diversity on the bandstand and diversity in the audience and it just feels positive and good and how things ought to be. I always saw jazz as a beacon of hope and inspiration. I still do. I suppose that is the reason why I have stuck with it for all these 27 years and counting. That, and my love of building things online. AAJ has allowed me to merge my passion for jazz and technology for a purpose and I'm forever thankful I had the opportunity to start during the early days of the Internet. Dear Mr. P.C.: Why did musicians in big bands all wear the same clothes? I once played in a group where the leader wanted us to all look alike yet he could wear anything he wanted. I told him he dressed funny. He told me I didn't look like a musician. I got upset and quit the band. How is a musician supposed to look? Is there a book I could read? Sartorially Puzzled.
