Sempre ligio cultore del verbo della sperimentazione, Leo Feigin, deus ex-machina dell'importante etichetta nata in un sempre più "lontano" est europeo, co-produce il nuovo lavoro discografico del 43enne clarinettista germanico, vero e proprio "must" delle ultime edizioni di un festival altamente propositivo quale quello di Moers.

Gratkowski, da sempre intellettuale dell'avanguardia colta europea, sospeso a metà strada fra il Conservatorio di Berlino e le avanguardie pensanti della nuova scuola di Colonia è stato, prima di diventare un fedele ed aristocratico persecutore del "solo", colonna portante di diverse importanti esperienze musicali relative ai canali "avantgarde" continentali, testimoniate anche sui dischi di artisti quali la Grubenklang Orchester, la Klaus Koenig Orchester, la Musikfabrik NRW, la Tony Oxley Celebration Orchestra e poi, ancora, Bentje Braam, BikBentBraam, All Ears, Zeitkratzer, WDR Big band, etc. Più recentemente, fra le collaborazioni da annotare, c'è sicuramente quella con il quintetto di Gerry Hemingway, capace di macroscopizzare i densi significati del blues.

Triskaidekaphonia è l'ennesimo "work in progress" del berlinese. Impossibile usare aggettivazioni normali: questa è forse "non musica" per moltissime orecchie, eppure - se ascoltata con i dovuti parametri di riferimento - materia straordinariamente interessante. Magma sonoro sicuramente reazionario per molti e reattivo per altri. Senza ombra di dubbio, tassativamente coraggioso per gusto e sensibilità: una sorta di "musica totale" resa reale da uno strumentario decisamente sui generis.

Rumori, soffi, respiri, cadenze, pattern, clock e poi - di colpo - come attorno al settimo minuto di "Umbrellas" - sprazzi di cieli azzurri limpidissimi immediatamente re-ingurgitati dai "rumori di fondo" classificati da sua Maestà Karlheinz Stockhausen.

Forse solo meravigliose follie del possibile.
