Olavi Trio & Friends: Triologia
Il loro progetto si muove dalle parti del free jazz e della musica creativa in genere, e ci consente di vedere all'opera diverse generazioni di musicisti finlandesi (si va dal saxofonista Aaltonen, nato nel 1935 al batterista Niilo Olavi Louhivuori nato nel 1981) per un confronto intergenerazionale allargato che appare molto più coerente e uniforme di quanto si poteva immaginare.
I 14 brani sono stati registrati in due giorni, agli inizi di luglio del 2008, ai Finnvox Studios di Helsinki e sono spesso a firma collettiva anche se non manca la riproposizione di un brano di Anthony Braxton. Il clima è controllato ed efficace, privo di esagerazioni. A volte si tentano esperimenti curiosi (come nel divertente "Hi Bob!" che cerca un punto di intesa fra reggae e free), ma lo si fa sempre con ottimo controllo degli strumenti e approccio collettivo ben condiviso e chiaro.
