Enrico Rava Quintet: Tribe
Tribe è un album dalla cifra espressiva notevole. Si tratta di dodici brani suonati in maniera deliziosa, fortemente avvolti in atmosfere buie e in taluni casi rarefatte, che si mantengono in costante equilibrio tra forme stilistiche difficilmente collocabili e una forte cantabilità dei temi. Spesso in primo piano troviamo il timbro lucente di Giovanni Guidi, pianista sempre più consapevole dei propri mezzi, mentre risulta meno in evidenza che in altre occasioni la presenza di Gianluca Petrella. Rava arricchisce l'intero lavoro grazie alle suo inconfondibile modo di condurre la band, con le sue pennellate che in certe situazioni accarezzano il tema, rendendolo commestibile, mentre in altre rilasciano dei graffi che lacereno in maniera decisiva l'intelaiuatura melodica.
È pura poesia quella che emanano le note di "Garbage Can Blues," come del resto quelle dell'iniziale "Amnesia," ma la band sa virare verso i terrritori più swinganti di "Choctaw," e sa immergersi nei grandi orizzonti melodici di "F.Express" e di "Tears for Neda" senza mai dare l'impressione di cedere sotto il profilo della tensione creativa ("Improvvisation"), anche quando concede il passaggio a qualche raggio di sole ("Planet Earth").
