Tra le belle parole spese nelle note di copertina del produttore Paolo Piangiarelli facciamo nostro l'aggettivo "delizioso" per descrivere questo lavoro a nome di Mauro Perigozzo e Matteo Scarpettini. Due musicisti che si incontrano in uno spazio sonoro sospeso tra il classicimo espresso dal pianista e il percussionismo ispirato del secondo, già in evidenza in alcuni progetti trasversali e di musica d'insieme.

Nove i brani che compongono Through the Looking Glass, otto dei quali a firma di Perigozzo, che attraversano in maniera delicata e introversa una musica svolta con perizia stilistica, buon gusto espressivo e arricchita dal continuo viaggio melodico sviluppato dal sax soprano di Stefano "Cocco" Cantini, figura imprescindibile dell'intero progetto. Fondamentale anche l'apporto del contrabbassista Gabriele Evangelista, che si fa carico di "riempire" i momenti drum-less, e che in un paio di episodi - sognanti e colmi di fascino - vengono allargati al trio d'archi diretto da Mauro Perigozzo.

Il percorso di Through the Looking Glass è pervaso da un'idea di bossa che se ne rimane piacevolmente sullo sfondo, è puntellato da un'introspezione pianistica di sicuro valore e vive di una propria originalità che lo eleva al di là delle consuetudini.
