Christian Wallumrød Ensemble: The Zoo Is Far
L'intento liturgico è qui chiaramente esplicito. Lo stesso Wallumrød dichiara di volersi mantenere al'interno della tradizione dei salmi norvegesi, caratterizzata da un mix di corali luterane e canzoni popolari. Ma Wallumrød è musicista troppo intelligente per auto-confinarsi in un solo ambito, per quanto interessante e ricco di stimoli.
Ecco allora fare capolino Henry Purcell, il Pakistan, la musica classica contemporanea. Il jazz, naturalmente. Il tutto composto come un romanzo, nel quale la storia è più accennata che esplicitamente raccontata. Una storia all'interno della quale gli episodi si rincorrono e si intrecciano in modo non sequenziale (basta scorrere l'elenco dei brani per rendersene conto). Ventiquattro episodi di lunghezza variabile, per la maggior parte miniature, ventiquattro pezzi di un mosaico che si disvela gradualmente all'ascoltatore in tutta la sua bellezza.
