Enrico Rava Quintet: The Words and the Days
Quando metti nel lettore un suo CD, sai già cosa ti puoi aspettare. Ma questo, lungi dal creare nell'ascoltatore il fenomeno del déjà-vu, lo porta immediatamente in una “zona di conforto”. Lo porta dentro una delicata melodia, con un suono che mette i brividi, con note lunghe di una bellezza commovente. Viene in mente il Davis migliore e quella capacità, che solo i grandi hanno, di colpirti, con poche note, direttamente al cuore. Enrico Rava sa benissimo come si fa.
E lo fa con la title track, bellissima e struggente. Un gioiello. Tanto prezioso da mettere un po' in ombra tutto il resto dell'album, peraltro di buonissimo livello, ma più “normale”, almeno per chi ha consuetudine con Rava e la sua musica.
La novità più interessante è dunque rappresentata dall'inserimento in quintetto di Andrea Pozza, a coprire il ruolo che era di Stefano Bollani. Rispetto a Bollani, quello di Pozza è un pianismo più orientato al jazz, meno estroverso e più intimista. Perfetto per accompagnare le malinconie della tromba del leader. Ma è tutto il quintetto che si muove con la precisione di un orologio svizzero.
